‘Hamza broke my heart, that’s why I left’

All is well that ends well, eventually Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz on Thursday reconciled with Naeem Mir, former provincial information secretary of the PML-N, central general secretary of All-Pakistan Anjuman Tajran and former secretary of The Mall Road Trader’s Association, who parted his way with PML-N on December 26, 2011 getting disgruntled by the treatment meted to him by MNA Hamza Shahbaz, son of CM Punjab Shahbaz Sharif.
Mir breakaway was severe jerk to PML-N bearing successive chain of blows that intensified after Javed Hashmi’s desertion. Tension ran in PML-N’ rank and file and consequently PML-N President Nawaz Sharif held an important meeting in Raiwind to repair the dying relations with party leaders and workers as damage control measure.
Return of Mir in the party was a manifestation of fact that PML-N is highly electrified to bring back the dissidents to boost party’s moral sinking down drastically in couple of days.
The patch-up took place at the CM Secretariat where Mir headed a delegation of more than 150 traders held parley with MNA Hamza Shahbaz and CM Senior Advisor Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khosa on Thursday. Hamza Shahbaz pacified Naeem Mir in amicable atmosphere. He removed his reservations assuring of granting him due protocol and rights.
On this, Mir announced to withdraw his resignation from party membership. He also apologized to Hamza Shahbaz for his overreaction and rant against him.
Talking to Pakistan Today, he said Hamaz also disowned the news published against him. When asked about his reservations, he said the step to resign from party membership some days back was taken due to Hamza Shahbaz’s frosty attitude. The resignation was sent to the party chief on Dec 26 (Monday) with copies to Shahbaz Sharif, CM’s advisers Sirdar Zulfikar Khosa, Ashfaq Sarwar and MNA Saad Rafique.
The letter said, “I gave 16 years to the party but what arrogant Hamza Shahbaz did to me in the last four years is unbearable,” adding that the CM’s son used to keep him and others standing outside his office for many hours. “Hamza was approached time and again to seek appointment for organisational matters and address the issues of traders but he would never respond. Even during meetings by chance, he would shake hand like an arrogant lord meeting his serfs,” it said. Then, he advised Hamza to quit politics if the latter wished to keep his uncle (Nawaz Sharif’s) party alive in the provincial capital.
