The Sindh government directed the Irrigation Department on Wednesday to submit the bills of contractors, who are involved in reconstruction and repair work of flood protective bunds, after having them verified by the National Engineering Services Pakistan. During a meeting at the Chief Minister’s House, presided over by provincial chief executive Qaim Ali Shah to review the reconstruction and repair of flood protective bunds damaged during the floods of 2010, the Irrigation Department was also directed to restore the bunds and carry out reconstruction and repair work on the right bank of the Indus River.
The meeting was attended by provincial Finance Minister Murad Ali Shah, Irrigation Minister Jam Saifullah Khan Dharejo, Food Minister Mir Nadir Ali Magsi, Chief Secretary Raja Muhammad Abbas, Additional Chief Secretary (Planning and Development) Israr Malik, Irrigation Secretary Khalid Haider Memon, Finance Secretary Naveed Kamran Baloch and Secretary to the Chief Minister Alamdin Bullo. The meeting discussed the liabilities and balance of payments to be made to contractors. The chief minister directed that the Finance, Planning and Development and Irrigation departments should finalise the issue so as to reconcile the bills and submit a report to him.
LAW AND ORDER: The chief minister also presided over another meeting at the Chief Minister’s House to review the law and order situation in the province. The meeting was attended by Sindh Home Minister Manzoor Hussain Wasan, Chief Secretary Raja Muhammad Abbas, Inspector General of Police Mushtaq Ahmed Shah and Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Waseem Ahmed.
The chief minister directed the law enforcement agencies to make adequate arrangements in all parts of the province on Thursday (today) for the 84th birth anniversary celebrations of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.
