Jamaat Shah rejects ‘baseless allegations’

Former Pakistani Indus Water commissioner Jamaat Ali Shah has said that he had been “extremely disturbed” by news appearing in sections media levelling various allegations on him relating to the Nimmo Bazgo and Chuttack power projects by India. In a press statement, he said, “The allegations are absolutely wrong and appear to be motivated either on the behest of the people who harbour personal enmity with me or the sources that want to destroy institutions in Pakistan”. He said he had “come to Canada to attend to my mother’s health conditions. My visit to Canada had not been a secret. I had informed the water and power secretary even though I was retired by then. Media should not sensationalise it. I intend to come back by the end of February and shall be available for any official reviews formally”.
