UK-based Pakistani blind barrister being honoured

The Special Education and Social Welfare Directorate-General is arranging an inspirational meeting on Thursday (today) with UK-based blind lawyer of Pakistani origin, Barrister Dr Amir Ali Majid, at the National Press Club. Barrister Dr Amir Ali Majid is the world’s first blind Barrister of Law and was awarded Sitara-i-Imtaiz for his courage and the achievements he attained despite being visually impaired.
He has completed his BA, LLB (Hons), LLM, Bar-at-Law and has the distinction of being World’s first Blind Doctor of Civil Law (McGill University). Dr Amir is also a writer and specialist in Air & Space Law and Immigration & Asylum Judge. The distinguished barrister is currently visiting Pakistan and the Directorate General of Special Education and Social Welfare has organised the event in his honour in collaboration with the Sightsavers International and the All-Pakistan Special Persons Association.
