A large number of students from the MAO College on Tuesday protested in front of the college, claiming they were wrongly failed by the Punjab University (PU) in their results of B Com and BBA honours. The students claimed that they had performed well in the examinations but 80 percent of them were failed by the PU controller examination. They blocked the road in front of the MAO College, burnt tyres and chanted slogans against the PU Examination Department. A student informed that a number of students who had secured 90 percent marks in the previous results were also among the failures.
MAO College Professor Dr Farhan Abadat Yar said that he had met with the protesters in this regard and the college would set up a committee to hold dialogues with the PU. PU Public Relations Officer (PRO) Khuram Shahzad said that the examiners were appointed by the Board of Study and the paper checking process was completely transparent. He said further that any student could submit the application for re-checking of papers to the varsity and the applications would be treated according to the given rules.
