The Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) staff in a condolence meeting for Dr Saleem Kharal on Tuesday demanded that the government should award all posthumous benefits awarded to martyrs to the slain doctor. The general body of the JPMC condemned the assassination of the head of hospital’s Microbiology Department and said his untimely death had adversely affected his family, colleagues, the hospital and a very large number of patients who could have benefited from his expertise. The body demanded special security measures for doctors as they are the vulnerable group. Those who spoke at the meeting included JPMC Director Prof Tasnim Ashan, Prof Ghulam Mehboob, Prof Liaquat Ali and Dr Muhammad Usman.
