Fazl demands punishment for Jamaat

The JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has strongly condemned the underhand support to India by former Indus Water Commission chairman Syed Jamaat Ali Shah in the construction of water reservoir in occupied Kashmir and demanded full investigation of the matter and punishment to the people involved.
In a statement on Wednesday, Maulana Fazlur Rehman, who is also the chairman of the Parliament’s Kashmir Committee, said that by constructing dams in occupied Kashmir, India wants to make Pakistan a barren country. He said India was blatantly violating the Indus Water Treaty, having no regard for the international agreement.
He said that the Kashmir Committee of the Parliament had repeatedly expressed its dissatisfaction over the performance of the Pakistani Indus Water Commission. He said India was generating electricity from the dams constructed in occupied Kashmir and transmitting them to India while the Kashmiris were suffering from long hours of load shedding.
He also asked the Kashmiris to forcibly stop India from constructing dams in the territory.
The Maulana said according to media reports, former Indus Water Commissioner Jamaat Ali Shah did not object over the dams and now he has fled to Canada. He added that such traitors should be extradited to the country and given exemplary punishment.
