A mother and her daughter alleged that the Lytton Road Police was patronising land-grabbers, in a press conference on Tuesday.
The family, self-proclaimed victim of the land-grabbing mafia, appealed to the city police officials to take notice of the issue and provide them with justice. Rani, a widow and resident of 6/53, Arjun Street, Ferozepur Road and her daughter accused Haji Farzand, a resident of the same locality, of harassing them to vacate their residence since the last several months.
According to Rani, Lytton Road Station House Officer (SHO) Akhtar, and a few other police officers have been backing the mafia, besides threatening her family.
She told the reporters that she had been living in the third floor of a building with her daughter, while Haji Farzand had illegally occupied the first floor and was forcing them to vacate the place now.
Rani said that the accused had also looted the dowry of her daughter on which she had complained to the 15 Police. The Lytton Road Police had arrested the accused but after receiving bail, the accused began threatening the family members, Rani added. She appealed to the chief justice of Pakistan, the Punjab Police inspector general (IG), and the capital city police officer (CCPO) to take notice of the incident and provide them with justice.
Fire claims toys worth Rs 400,000: A fire broke out in a house on Tuesday, claiming a loss of Rs 400,000. The house was being used as a godown of toys worth thousands of rupees. The fire broke out due to short circuit. The Rescue 1122 reached the spot and extinguished the fire.
