Two people were killed and 20 others were injured when a bomb planted in a motorcycle went off at a building in Peshawar on Tuesday, and another four people were killed and nine sustained injuries in a high-intensity explosion in Landi Kotal, Khyber Agency. Both attacks were claimed by the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). TTP spokesman Ehsanullah Eshan told CNN that a militant group called the Abdullah Azzam Brigade worked with the Taliban on the Landi Kotal attack. The blast in Peshawar, which happened at the base of the six-storey Azam Building, killed two people on the spot and injured 20 others, who were rushed to Khyber Teaching Hospital (KTH). The condition of four of the wounded was stated to be critical. The blast damaged a restaurant, six internet cafes, a bakery and real estate offices situated in the building and also shattered the windows of several other shops and vehicles. According to bomb disposal squad officials, the bomb weighed around 5 to 6kg and was fitted in a motorbike. They said it was detonated by a timed device. In Landi Kotal, a bomb wrapped in a shopping bag and placed beneath two cars parked by the road at Bacha Khan Chowk went off, destroying both vehicles, killing three security forces personnel and a student and wounding nine others. The condition of two of the injured was stated to be in danger. Officials believe the attack came in reaction to the killing of Qari Kamran along with 11 others in the latest clash with security forces in the Kramna area of Tirrah valley. Meanwhile, a suspected suicide bomber detonated himself on a deserted road on the outskirts of Gujrat, police said. “It seems like he may have set the bomb off by mistake,” said police official Mudassar Ali.
