1971 remembered through a book on women

Great tributes were paid to the writer Yasmin Saikia on the launch of her new book “Women, War and the Making of Bangladesh: Remembering 1971”.
Dr Professor Imtiaz Bokhari, Dr Yaqoob Khan Bangash, vice rector of FC College Dr James Tabbe and many other people were present on the occasion. The book is a publication of Oxford University press.
The book is a prolific compilation important content of during the making of Bangladesh and explains the role of women in the separation of Bangladesh from Pakistan.
It also contains personal accounts and stories of the female victims who had to pay the price of the partition. Sikia stresses on national history and gender issues in the book. “The book looks interesting especially for me being a girl of the 21st century. I love the personal firsthand accounts which make it more interesting. It is definitely going in to my personal library,” said young Hadia, a student of FC College.
