At least one person was killed and 12 others wounded, including police, when a suicide bomber targeted a police vehicle in southern Afghanistan Tuesday, a local police official said.
The bomber, who was riding a motorcycle, was recognised and apprehended by police in southern Kandahar city, the Taliban’s spiritual home, but detonated his explosives before reaching his target.
“It was a suicide attack on a motorbike that killed one child and wounded 12 others including four police,” Gulalai, a local police chief, told AFP, adding that the target was a border police vehicle patrolling the area.
No one has so far claimed responsibility for the attack.
