JI to join in against gas outages, low pressure

Announcing an all out support to the protest movement by industrialists, traders and workers against fuel price hike, stoppage of gas to industries and prolonged load shedding of electricity, the Jamaat-e-Islami on Monday has urged the people from all walks of life to join the JI countrywide protest on the issue.
The call for countrywide protest has been given by the JI chief Syed Munawar Hasan. Protest rallies and meetings will be held in the federal and provincial capitals besides all major cities of the country which would be addressed by JI leaders. JI Secretary General Liaqat Baloch, in a statement here on Monday, said that the four year rule of the Pakistan People’s Party and its allies had literally buried the masses alive due to price hike, unemployment and shortage of the necessities of life.
He said millions of house holds were not getting gas for cooking while the rulers were living in luxuries, adding that people all over the country were already on roads against the gas shortage and load shedding. He said corruption, nepotism and plunder of national wealth was the hall mark of the PPP-led government and major national institutions had also collapsed under it. He said a couple of days back, a mega fertilizer scandal involving a plunder of Rs 300 billion had come to surface in which some federal ministers, assembly members and high officials were involved and which spoke volumes about the government’s commitment to resolving the problems being faced by the people.
