A spokesman for Husain Haqqani, Pakistan’s former ambassador to the US, has said that Brigadier (r) Imtiaz’s baseless allegations and concocted stories did nothing but further discredit the former intelligence henchman notorious for his hatred of the PPP. Responding to a story published by various newspapers, the spokesman said, “Imtiaz seems to be working to gain media attention by making such allegations, as he is simply irrelevant in today’s Pakistan.”
The spokesman added that Husain Haqqani does not need any certificate from a discredited individual to prove the level of trust bestowed on him by Benazir Bhutto, adding that “Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto in her last book, Reconciliation, had acknowledged Haqqani as a loyal friend and that is sufficient for him”. He said the interview of the controversial retired brigadier at this crucial time proves that he was trying to play someone else’s game. Haqqani is aware of such lowly tactics by his detractors and is confident that their lies won’t be entertained by anyone but their own illusions, the spokesman added.
