Up to twenty militants were killed in Upper Orakzai Agency in two separate operations by the military on Sunday night and Monday morning.
According to official sources, security forces pounded hideouts of militants with heavy weaponry, killing ten militants in Upper Orakzai on Monday.
“Security forces earlier had killed at least ten other extremists during overnight operation against the militants in Upper Orakzai,” official sources added.
Meanwhile, three more militants were killed in a clash with the Qaumi Lashkar in Khyber Agency tehsil of Landikotal. According to details, terrorists and National Lashkar clashed with the militants employing automatic weapons during which three terrorists and a volunteer were killed.
It is pertinent to be mentioned here that security forces have stepped up operation against the insurgents in Orakzai Agency to wipe out the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and al-Qaeda affiliated militants.
Officials said despite repeated operations, the presence of insurgents in the tribal region could not be eliminated and complete elimination requires more efforts both on political and military level.
