‘Bearded men and burqa-clad women to change country’s fate’

The fate of the country would be change by bearded men and burqa-clad women, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Ameer Munawar Hassan said on Sunday. Addressing a public meeting on Sunday evening, the JI chief said propaganda has been launched against “religious people”. “There is no stain of corruption on the leadership of JI. We have managed to bring together all sections of the society, he said. “There are no feudal lords or industrialists in the caravan of JI.” The JI chief also took a swipe at the Awami National Party (ANP), claiming that at one stage, the party was receiving roubles from the USSR to protect its interests instead dollars from the US.
He said the situation of the country would not change until President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani are not ousted. “The people of the country have awoken and want an Islamic revolution. The nation should prepare for a revolution,” he added. Hassan said there Zardari enjoys no support and it was N-League’s chief Nawaz Sharif who came forward to support him and made him strong. “Until the government remains in power, all the sins would go to Nawaz Sharif.”
The JI ameer said the Russian or the American systems did not bring any change in the lives of the Pakistani people. “We have to review our foreign policy,” he added.
Hassan said the US and NATO have attacked the sovereignty of the country.
“The US has joined hands with India and wants to destabilise Pakistan,” he added. “The government talks about the supremacy of the parliament, but is itself hesitant to follow this path.”
