A US serviceman on active duty was detained at an airport in the US state of Texas on Saturday when he tried to board a flight carrying explosives, an FBI spokesman said.
The man was detained and questioned at Midland International Airport, the spokesman in Washington added.
Transportation Security Administration workers found the explosives early Saturday, the Midland Reporter-Telegram reported, adding that the terminal was closed for about one hour and then reopened once the all-clear was given.
“The man had been in town visiting family and was traveling back to North Carolina,” the report said, citing local police. It added that the suspect remained in custody and the incident was still under investigation.
