PU VC set to keep job till new VC appointed

The drama of sectarian clash and whole negative propaganda against PU Vice Chancellor (VC) Professor Dr Mujahid Kamran has been exposed before the Punjab government and the government is likely to allow PU VC to continue his tenure after January 2 till the appointment of a permanent VC at the varsity.
Punjab Higher Education Department (HED) sources said that HED received information on the sectarian attack on Shia students was to bar the Punjab government to allow Dr Kamran to continue his tenure after January 2, 2012.
On the other hand, interviews will be conducted for around 30 applicants for the PU VC slot on January 2 and the process will be completed within one week.
Beside this an advertisement campaign was also continue against the Dr Kamran to damage his repute but they all failed and HED has now decided that to ask the Dr Kamran to control the affairs till further order.
A race for the PU VC slot is underway and favour is being sought from the Punjab CM who wants to improve the research culture at PU. HED officials said the government had learnt plagiarists and third divisioners had applied for the post and neither would be eligible. They said the JI was active to appoint to pro-JI VC but Kamran’s record was steady. They said Mujahid Kamran, his wife Professor Karakoram International University Gilgit VC Dr Najma Najam, former PU Registrar Dr Naeem Ahmad Khan and Garrison University VC Dr Jamil Anwer were favourites for the slot.
Secretary HED: HED Secretary Dr Ejaz Munir said there were good chances that Dr Kamran will continue work but a notification could be issued after the Punjab CM’s recommendation today ( Saturday) or on January 02. He said interviews will span January 2-3 and a summary will be sent to concerned authorities the next day.
