The epic journey of Moin Khan, the 24 year old Pakistani, who on his Honda CBR motorbike came from California to Lahore in an effort to rebuild the image of Pakistan, came to an emotional end as the patriotic biker was received by a huge roar from his family, friends and fans at Expo Centre Lahore on Saturday.
Touching moments were spotted as Moin Khan finally stopped his bike near his family after a five month journey all the way from Golden Gate Bridge California to Expo Center, Lahore. A massive number of youngsters had gathered to welcome the young hero after a daring and challenging trip that he opted to take for his country. People gathered around Moin Khan as he got off the bike to meet his parents family, friends and fans.
Khan had entered in the vicinity of the Expo Center at about quarter past three accompanied by his friend who joined in as the ambitious journey concluded. People roared and shouted as the young biker, carrying the green flag made his way to his final destination after crossing 3 continents, 22 countries and countless cities with the flag.
The welcoming event was organised by pakwheel.com where Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif arrived to welcome Moin Khan at his final destination. The CM has termed Khan to be a resplendent star of the nation who has proved that the Pakistani nation was inferior to none. He said Khan had made a mark for Pakistan throughout the world and has given a message to the world that the Pakistanis are a peace loving nation and they are desirous of a life full of peace and tranquillity for the people of the world. He said that the nation is proud of great sons like Moin Khan and expressed the hope that the very youths of the nation will turn the country into the real Pakistan as envisioned by Quaid-e-Azam and Allama Iqbal.
Member National Assembly Umer Suhail Zia Butt, Director Pak Wheels Sunil Sarfraz Manj and a large number of youths were present in the function. The CM said Khan had played an important role as an ambassador of Pakistan.
The CM pointed out that the Punjab government was taking solid measures for the promotion of curricular, co-curricular and sports activities in the province and said that the Punjab government had given away prizes worth crore of rupees among the male and female students who took part in co-curricular and sports activities during the last three years and nine months. He said Khan, undoubtedly, deserved the affections of all and termed him a glittering star of the galaxy of Pakistani youths who have brought good name for the country and the nation by demonstrating their God-gifted capabilities in various walks of life at international level.
He also assured that a befitting function would soon be arranged in honour of Moin Khan, his associates and family members as well. Later on, the CM awarded a shield to Moin Khan.
Speaking on the occasion, Khan, a motorcyclist and a student of San Francisco University, expressed gratitude to the CM and narrated the story of his voyage. He said the future of Pakistan lay in the hands of youths and they were destined to change the destiny of the country. Meanwhile, Manj told about the website and disclosed that it was the biggest car website of the Pakistan and many people were benefiting from it. He said the Pakistani nation was a capable and a peaceful one “The real inspiration behind the journey I made was the falling international image of Pakistan,” said Moin. He said while studying at California he used to wake up everyday to listen to a bad news about Pakistan. “Bomb blast after each and every week had destroyed the image of Pakistan completely and after I graduated I thought it was time for myself to do something about it and take things in my own hands”, he said.
Khan started off from the Golden Gate Bridge on June 11 and reached his destination on the last day of 2011. During his journey his main goal was to meet as many as people he could and talk about Pakistan and Muslims to clear the prevailing misconceptions about the country and the people. Moin Khan along with the Pakistani flag covered about 40000km carving through bad weather, rain, snow and deadly roads. The young biker also witnessed an accident in Romania in which his bike was totalled. Khan recovered with an ambition of completed the epic journey he started. Moin khan complete his trip in 5 months and 21 days.
