The Sindh High Court (SHC) restrained the Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) on Thursday from disconnecting power supply to the residence of a petitioner.
Nargis Haroon filed a petition against excessive billing by the KESC amounting to Rs 69,782, citing the power utility’s CEO and two other officials as respondents.
Haroon submitted that she received a bill of Rs 72,327 for the month of December and according to the data in the bill, Rs 69,782 have been charged as arrears. However, this is incorrect as she has been paying her bills regularly, she contended.
She implored the court to declare the arrears in the bill as unjustified and order the respondents to issue a correct bill
The bench, comprising Justice Maqbool Baqar and Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar, issued notices to the respondents for January 11.
