A police constable was held by the Factory Area Police for his involvement in murdering his lover’s husband on December 21.
Talking to Pakistan Today, Cantt Investigation Superintendent of Police (SP) Syed Amin Bokhari said that both the constable and woman tried to distract investigators and reported the mishap as a murder during a robbery bid. Bokhari said Ghulam Farid, a resident of Sitara Colony was shot dead inside his home and the police was told that the murder occurred in a robbery bid. The SP said he himself visited the spot and doubted the statements of the deceased’s heirs, especially his wife Naseem. He said on suspicion, he directed investigators to check the call record of Naseem’s mobile phone.
Investigators found some mysterious calls at time of the mishap from Naseem’s mobile number, who confessed to killing her husband with her lover after investigation. Naseem also confessed that she had an affair with Constable Shahid Manzoor, who was then posted at the CCPO Office. The SP said that investigators also nabbed Shahid, who also confessed killing Farid.
Both Naseem and Shahid loved each other and wanted to marry, without Naseem getting a divorce from Farid, the SP said, adding that on the day of the incident Naseem drugged her husband and called Shahid who killed him and took Naseem’s jewellery and Rs 30,000. Naseem had two children from Farid and had fallen in love with Shahid a year ago. Both the killers asked Farid’s parents to forgive them.
