Army storekeeper booked over Rs 5m embezzlement

The Sarwar Road Police has registered a case against a storekeeper of the Military Engineering Services (MES), a department of Pakistan Army, for embezzling valuables worth about Rs 5 million on Friday. The Sarwar Road Police registered the case number 189/11 under the section 409 of Pakistan Penal Code on the orders of the General Headquarters (GHQ). According to details, the MES high officials learnt about an embezzlement of iron bars worth about Rs 5 millions, over which Colonel Nisar Ali Khan of MES ordered a detailed inquiry against storekeeper Tauqeer during which he was proven guilty. The inquiry officer asked Tauqeer to surrender but he escaped to his native town Chiniot. The inquiry officer contacted the Chiniot district coordination officer (DCO) for tracing Tauqeer but the Chiniot DCO reported the inquiry officers, via the letter number 2581/DCO, about the escape of Tauqeer from Chiniot. The inquiry officer was informed that Tauqeer had sold his house and escaped.
