Interior Minister Rehman Malik on Friday said that national flag is high in the air in Malakand due to the performance of the PPP-led government, adding that in the past the residents of the area had to seek Taliban permission even for the marriages of their girls.
Talking to media persons outside the Parliament House, the minister assured that the next general elections will take place in 2013.
He said that killing of Police Surgeon Dr Baqir Shah may be outcome of some personal enmity or a bid to defame the government, adding that investigation in this regard was underway.
Malik also said that key personalities were being targeted in order to weaken the government, and that some elements were working against the country in an effort to separate Balochistan.
To a question, he said that Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani’s statement about presence of Osama Bin Laden in Pakistan was misquoted.
Lauding Pakistan’s armed forces and the Rangers for sacrifices in anti-terror war, Malik said thousands of soldiers were martyred in this war.
Karachi, being a cosmopolitan city with huge population, cannot be crime free, according to the minister, who underlined the role of the Rangers and Frontier Constabulary in setting the situation in the city in order.
“Rangers and the FC have vital role to cause improvement in the Karachi situation,” he said.
If i were to give the present govt. high fives it would be it,s sucess in causing confusion.
No sooner after i had digested the prime minister,s tongue in cheek comments about OBL and ISI ,our all knowing interior minister says the remarks er misquoted.
I assume the divine revelations of our President about our future "president " er also misquoted. Our Dr. Malik has all the answers to all confusion be it a murder, kidnapping but nothing gets solved other than his assurances that the culprits would be caught and given exemplary punishment.
The present govt is a confused mass of protoplasm without mitochondria.
So says the guy, who calls apple a banana. Wow. He never fails to amaze us.
I don't think we have more stupid person in Pakistan then this guy.
When you make a village "hajam" interior minister dont expect a statement wiser than that :))))
Shame on Pakistan. You would expect some integrity from "the land of the pure."
Mr Malik the statement is beneath the standard of wisdom and foresight expected of an Interior Minister.
There has to be an impartial investigation and the forensics carried out in the best professional manner possible. Please avoid speculations.
