Nine killed, 18 injured in Quetta blast

At least nine people were killed and 18 were injured in a blast outside the house of a Baloch leader on Hameed Street, Arbab Karam Khan Road here on Friday.
The blast ripped through a residential neighborhood, outside the house of former federal minister Naseer Mengal. Many houses caught fire after the blast. Police see death toll rising drastically.
Emergency was declared in the area in the wake of blast. Ambulances are doing rounds between the hospitals and the blast site. Firefighters also reached site of tragedy and were busy fighting flames. Two of the injured are in critical condition, rescue sources told media.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Nasir Kurd said that eight people had been killed as a result of the blast, adding that the explosive material was planted in a car, parked outside the house.
The SP, Saryab said that the blast occurred near residence of former federal minister Naseer Mengal and many casualties feared in the attack. He said that the police have cordoned off the area.
All the injured have been shifted to nearby civil hospital and Bolan Medical Hospital. Conditions of the injured people are not known at this point.
