All Pakistan CNG Association has announced to go on strike from January 01 in Punjab against price hike and imposing ban on public and commercial vehicles. The duration of strike would be decided later.
Addressing a press conference the Central Chairman of All Pakistan CNG Association (APCNGA) Ghiyas Abdullah Paracha said, “We do not accept so much increase in the gas rates especially when we are not getting desired gas and the entire burden would be shifted to the public.”
He said that ban on refuelling of CNG in public and commercial vehicles is not acceptable on the bases of the incidents in which not a single approved cylinder got blast. He said: “We are ready for all cooperation in checking of the CNG-fitted public and commercial vehicles but this process would take its time to be completed.”
He said that due to of all these facts All Pakistan CNG Association has decided to keep close all CNG stations in Punjab from January 01.
He rejected the allegations of politicizing the issue and said, “I am neither a politician nor belong to any political party but raises my voice for the right of 40 million people.
Ghiyas Paracha has said that CNG consumers have been suffering a lot due to government anti-CNG policy.
He said that government is trying to shift CNG industry on LPG which is near to impossible right now as it will take a long time to convert the vehicles to it.
The Central Chairman APCNGA said that this policy would ruin the struggle of two decades and the billions of the investment of the public in form of CNG stations, installation of kits and cylinders in the vehicles.
Talking about the cases of gas theft in the country, he said that gas theft can be checked from the record of SSGC and SNGPL that who is involved in gas theft. He said that SNGPL itself shows 16 percent gas theft which is not possible without the support of officers.
The only possible way to cater the gas shortage is to act upon the gas supply agreement.
The government has closed supply of 2100 small industries but giving gas to 2,000 big industries which consumes 90 percent of gas, he added. He also challenged the government that the minister has falsely stated that CNG stations earn 28 Rs profit, if it proves he will resign from the Association chairmanship.
if it is not possible to provide constant CNG, than pls. provide CNG with one day break throughout the year. This system will not disturb the life of poor who earns his livlyhood on daily basis. This programme will not snatch the bread and butter from the poor and common man. SAQIB QURESHI, RWP.
