Two members of the Senate Standing Committee on Defence and Defence Production have refused to attend a meeting scheduled for today (Thursday) at the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Headquarters, saying the agency’s officials should come to the Parliament House to brief the legislators. Sources said that Senator Raza Rabbani and Senator Prof Khurshid Ahmed had declined to attend the meeting and conveyed their decision to the chairman, Senator Lt Gen (r) Javed Ashraf Qazi.
The committee was scheduled to meet at the ISI headquarters to get briefing on the spy agency’s role in counter-terrorism operations. When contacted, Prof Khurshid told Pakistan Today that he had written a letter to the committee chairman conveying his concerns. “We respect both the army and the ISI, but it is a matter of principle. The parliament is supreme and the ISI officials should be summoned to the Parliament House to brief the members of the committee,” he said. Sources added that Rabbani shared the same opinion and declined to attend today’s meeting.
I salute Senator Raza Rabbani and Senator Prof Khurshid Ahmed.
It's not your place Javed Ashraf Qazi.– QUIT…
Raza Rabbani is making history by taking stand on principle. He already refused such meeting which was called in GHQ. The uniformed persons must give respect to the elected forums as it is done all over the world. The only way to get respect in the world communitty our uniformed persons should respect such forums and make examples to gain more respect within the peoples.

Well done Raza Rabbani; I salute your bravery. More power to you!
Recently in India the army chief was summoned to a hearing of a parliamentary committee investigating a relatively minor charge of misappropriation of rations in the army. That is called true parliamentary democracy, and civilian supremacy.
Some time ago indian government put forward a plan to increase military precense in troulbled states of ASSAM MIZZORAM etc. indian army chief bluntly refused this proposal by saying that army is already busy in KASHMIR and can not send troops in other states. "now this is called true parliamentary democracy, and civilian supermacy." i can go on and on with these kind of examples. come out of your inferiority complex. By refusing to go to ISI headquarters is just an cosmatic step. few days back all these senators also refused to go to GHQ for a same kind of briefing but this stand lasted only for few days and they all went to GHQ some days later. what happened to that principal stand. even now if they will not get a briefing it will not do any harm to ISI. AND they don,t even care about it.
You are absolutely wrong. It is not the Indian army it is the state governments who objected the proposal. More over army deployment cannot be imposed in states without the approval of states. Dont give false information. Then one more thing the present Army chief of India is knocking the doors of Supreme court to get his date of birth rectified in his military records. Also you know how indian govt court martialed the former General in the Sukh Ram Land deal. Dont compare your super ignorant generals who think they are above the parliament with Indian army. If you have a handful of senators with spin like Raza Rabani pakistan democracy should have been flourished long back
It's not your place Javed Ashraf Qazi.– QUIT…
So next time, instead of PM visiting a govt hospital, all the doctors and patients should be shifted to Parliament house so he can inquire about their health for cheap publicity
Absolutely RIGHT.
They are losers. They missed the important briefing and would continue to miss in future. I rather not have these guys present in these kind of meetings as no one trusts them.
You mean people expected to brief in ISI HQ are like Patients or doctors? Please talk sense.
its a good decision by both these senators , how far we are to be enslaved by these khakis!
It doesn't relly matter where th briefing is held. Refusing to attend is really shallow and rude.
