SC fully respects parliament: CJ

Chief Justice (CJ) Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry has termed the news running in the media regarding the Supreme Court’s remarks on parliament as incorrect and said that the apex court fully respects it.
The CJ said that the court had said nothing about the parliament and impeachment of the president.
When the hearing resumed, Asma Jahangir, the counsel of former Ambassador to the US Husain Haqqani, continued her arguments before a nine-member bench, headed by Justice Iftikhar, here on Thursday.
The CJ said the Army chief should be respected, as they give their blood for defence of the homeland. However, Asma retorted that they (signifying Army chief) are the rulers who command, and others are the ones who give blood.
“We respect the office of the Army chief, but he may commit mistakes, too,” Asma said, while questioning how Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) chief Lieutenant General Ahmed Shuja Pasha left met with Mansoor Ijaz with the permission of Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani.
Defending Haqqani before the bench, Asma contended her client has made great effort for the prestige of Pakistan only to be meted out with this disgrace.

  1. It has happened many times that Media misreported remarks of Judges. Usually on the face of it, misreporting does not seem to be inadvertent. Rather, it is politically motivated. This is a fit case of suo moto case so that freedom of media is not misused.

  2. it is bitter fact that CJ is also under the pressure of media. there should be proper laws for media. i am in favor of the liberation to speak, but its not good that you give your views on different sensitive issues. i am observing this thing from many years that all world media is doing the same thing. they are the shops of sensation.
CJ is doing a very important work, he is very busy since his suspension issues. let him do his work, he is going well and taking sou-motto on every important issues.

  3. LAWYERS AND DEFENDERS OF CRIMINALS
This memo was deliberately sent through a bad guy without any signature to make ensure that no one will be able to trace and detect the origin and source.
If it was going directly to Mr.Mullen with SIGNATURE then it was without going to become the part of american official record and instead of Mr.Mansoor Mr.Mullen was going to be talking about the whole story of this memo to world and recording in his classified records and memoirs as they have done with the comments of Zardari and Gillani about Drones attacks.Sender was well known with the poilcy of Americans not to hide any thing. Therefore sender se4nt this memo in such a crude way.
But sender made a mistake due to modern technology of BLACK berry, because only through these machines a system can be made and maintained, otherwise defenders, protecters and lawyers of criminals by using loop holes in laws will continue to protect criminals for making money and bread and luxuries of their lives.
Making money by defending criminals in courts is a unpleasant business.

  4. Matters being probed in the honourable courts must not be discussed publically and
we must not give our comments according to our wishes. If somebody is a law expert
he will give opinion lawfully, but majority who is not law expert, their opinion creats confusion among the public and the society is bifurcated for nothing.Everybody knows
how much are expert, the media persons.
To provide simple information, should be the job of media. All of us must respect each other.

  5. Proper decorum has to be enforced. There is difference between a Bar Room and a Court room. Whose responsiblity is it? Media or no media. There is no difference between what Asma Jehangir utters whenever she gets a chance and the views of the army nextdoor. How can she utter such nonsence in the presence of the CJP would being snubbed and made to retract her nonsensical observations about the Army Chief or the DG ISI. They are not the plaintiffs in this case. Can the CJP understand the amount of damage being done to morale and motivation of young leadership of the Army?
