ISO protests against IJT

The Imamia Students Organisation (ISO) members on Wednesday protested outside the Punjab Assembly against the Islami Jamiat Taliba (IJT) activists who had tortured Shia students celebrating Youm-e-Hussain at the Punjab University last week.
The protesters chanted slogans against the government for not arresting the IJT activists, warning the Punjab government against appointing a pro-IJT or pro-Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) vice chancellor at PU. A large number of Shia students gathered outside the Punjab Assembly, despite a ban on protests on the Mall Road. The students protested against the use of weapons by IJT against the Shia students.
The IJT claimed that the Shia students had not taken an official permission for celebrating Youm-e-Hussain which was necessary before holding an event at the varsity. PU Students Advisor Iftikahr Chaudhry also claimed that the Shia students had not taken a written permission, alleging that their claim of having permission was false. The protesters claimed that they will celebrate Youm-e-Hussain again, demanding the government to provide them security.
