Gujranwala violence claims 10 lives

At least 10 people, including four children and three women, were killed in an exchange of fire between two groups and the subsequent violence, police said.
According to the details, two armed groups clashed in a market near Pipliwala area. As a result three people, including a passerby, were killed and three others injured.
The deaths triggered more violence in the area as supporters of those killed torched the rival’s houses and vehicles in the area. Four children and three women burnt to death after their homes were set on fire by infuriated people.
Police arrived at the scene and tackled the violent situation, cordoning off the area, while rescue teams shifted the injured and dead bodies to the hospital.
According to reports, firing between the two groups lasted for an hour, sowing fright and panic in the area.
Police confirmed the death toll, adding that two rioters have been arrested.
Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, taking notice of the gory incident, sought report from IG Punjab.
Separately, the City Police Officer (CPO) ordered action against the area SHO for the delay in police action.
