The Foundation for Rehabilitation and Education of Slow Children (FRESH) General Secretary Ashba Kamran criticised the distribution of laptops among students and advised the Punjab chief minister to focus on improving the education system rather than on political point-scoring. She said: “The Punjab government will spend Rs5 billion on providing laptops to students, which is a sheer wastage of public money. “The poor state of public schools has resulted in abnormal dropout rates and a high ratio of students failing at the primary and secondary level. Some 70 percent students drop out at the primary level annually and 50 percent failed the recent matriculation examination.”
She said about five million students of 1000 public sector schools would benefit if the Punjab government spent the money on them instead of purchasing 100,000 laptops at Rs50,000 each. “The Punjab government has already wasted billions of rupees in implementing the Sasti Roti scheme while contributing little to overcoming inflation. Not only this, the Punjab government’s plan to automate the Punjab Education Board has proven to be a complete failure,” she added.
at east they did smthin for students. tell me, why s zardari spending millions on his treatment abroad? he could donate these funds to shaukat khanum…!
Even though if they do not purchased the Laptops, who did anything for the benifit of students,,, until now nobody.. so let them buy…..
in 50, 000 u get a quite better specification laptop. Punjab government is buying quite expensive laptop.

Dear saeed ahmed..i do appreciate u and CMs vision but the point is if i have Rs./- 100 then i should invest where i can get more benifit….if u invest the same amount as described by Ms. Ashba that can gve the much more advantage than this one….and even if u dont want there then invest it to upgrade and provide the digital laboratries in colleges and univ where every computer can serve atleast 5 times more than this "laptop" scheme…laptop for 1, lab computer for many users…….laptopp to current students…..lab computers to every new entry students………hope u got my point..

Saud butt, my dear agr pahly kisi ny kuch nai kia to es ka matlab yah nai hy k aik in-appropriate investment ki jay…..u take the same amount and find some other permanent alternative which can benifit every generation….this laptop will benifit only this current generation. so plz dont let them do…advise them to chooz some battter alternative. AGREED WHAT HAVE THEY DONE FOR THE STUDENTS 80 PC OF US ARE ADDICTED TO FACEBOOK .. 5O PC HV FAILED IN MATRIC EXAMS…RATHER THAN GIVING FREE LAPTOPS THEY SHOULD MAKE THEM WORK HARD SO THAT THEY CAN HAVE THIS BY THEMSELVES.. THEY ARE JUST MAKING THE YOUNG GENERATION MORE LAZY THIS SPOON FEEDING SHOULD BE FINISHED IN PAKISTAN. IF THE SAME AMOUNT IS SPENT TO GIVE AND INCREASE THE PAY OF TEACHERS IT WOULD BE A LOT BETTER!
Its a habit of our nation to criticize good steps as people should be positive about whats done good and criticize bad steps such as corruption etc what is the problem if 10000 students are getting benefited and for five millions students of 1000 public sector schools danish schools are being built i hope that people donot criticize danish schools
The information about the price of laptop should be acquired from Punjab rather then from the FRESH General secretary who has nothing to do with this sources of sharif free laptop scheme should punja government sources and officials and not any ngo
and remember something is better then nothing compare this with other provincial governments and the federal governments which has done nothing in the field of education.
@ Yasir do u think by your voice they stop the consigment and utilize this amount as you hope for….. r u sure such things happening in pakistan… do not tell me before and after… such analyse by ur self..
so let them proceed as they want at least ur getting something more advance or different which u do not have….. (Something is better than nothing) and do not even think other senario.. because contract has already been signed, and if they now refuse to get the delivery.. it willl be a breach of contract…. where pakistan government could be penalized… i do not know the contract clauses what they agreed upon… just generaly speaking…
There seems to a typo here. 100,000 laptop for 50,000 each, comes 5 billion (not million). This is the most foolish initiative ever, especially in a province where thousands of schools are closed or lacking teacher due to insufficient funding. This money could be used for 100s of other better purposes such as increasing minimum salaries for teachers, sending 1000 top students abroad higher studies (even if 50-60% don't return, help through foreign exchange remittance), or free books for primary or secondary education. But all this wouldn't bring Votes….although I am pretty sure that majority of these laptop takers will not vote for them either. What a waste!!!

this is one of most stupid scheme ever heard..this money could be use on alot of good places..specially improving condition of our primary schools but nawaz league is afraid of khan popularity and they think of everything to win youth support…but it will go in vain…Nawaz and Shahbaz should change their advisers as soon as possible
