Taking inspiration from nature changing colours in winter

Late Afternoon Light”, an art exhibition on nature by Muhammad Arshad, concluded at the Oceans Art Gallery on Tuesday.
Taking inspiration from earth and nature changing its colours in winter, the artist portrayed his observations of forests on the canvas.
The University of Punjab graduate captured the true colours of autumn and leaves by painting wild flowers, birds and fallen leaves.
Emphasising the golden light of afternoon that creates beautiful contrast in forests, Arshad attributed the title of his collection to post-noon light for the same reason.
Through his collection, the artist provides a window to revisit the beauty of Punjab’s forests, reminding his audience in a subtle way about the preservation of Mother Nature. Although the paintings have been successful in presenting wilderness in a novel form, Arshad also maintains his poetic expression and soft approach towards his landscapes. As the painter regards Changa Manga as his stimulation, the pieces of art also reflect the serenity of the jungle, providing brief escape from the hustle bustle of city life. The chosen colours as well as precise strokes compliment the theme of the paintings.
Though the subject matter remains very much real, Arshad has created a mixture of fantasy and reality that convinces the beholder. Without a doubt, most of the 31 paintings were sold out in a metropolitan city like Karachi.
