Hum Aik Hain – a theatre play was staged here late Tuesday to pay homage to Shaheed Benazir Bhutto for uniting the people to fight for democracy in the country. Written and directed by Riffat Ali Qaiser, the play was staged by Bhutto Shaheed Welfare Society Rawalpindi at the ongoing drama festival at Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA). The show was dedicated to Benazir Bhutto on her death anniversary. Based on the theme of national integration, the play portrayed the tale of hard workers including labourers, actors, troops, parliamentarians, bureaucrats and every potential contributor of the country.
Through dialogues and expressions of performing art, the story reflected the public issues and their solutions and called for forging unity in all segments of the society. Various theatre groups performed during the festival that will continue till December 29 to entertain the Islooites with quality entertainment. These theatre groups represent all the provinces of the country to portray their skills and stage the stories with some message and entertainment. “The festival provided them with a platform of national level to showcase their skills and ideas as well as give recognition to private theatre groups and promote their cultural activities to keep the tradition of classical theater alive,” said Tauqeer Nasir, Director General PNCA, while talking to APP.
