Altaf terms Zardari’s speech positive

Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain on Tuesday hailed the address of President Asif Ali Zardari on the death anniversary of Benazir Bhutto.
In a statement issued from London, Hussain said the positive and balanced views expressed by Zardari in his speech were reassuring for populist forces in the country.
The MQM chief said it was the right step in the direction of strengthening democracy and reinforcing democratic institutions in the country.
“It would also augur well for improving relations among institutions and for the betterment of the country,” he added.
According to him, the policies given by Zardari for improving the economic and financial problems are in the interest of the country.
He said a moderate approach is highly necessary for continuation of democracy in the country.
In a separate statement, Hussain said Benazir Bhutto was a great leader of Asia who was martyred by evil forces.
He said all those democratic forces that had been raising their voices for the rights of the underprivileged people were saddened and were paying tribute to the martyred leader.
Bhutto was slain because of her efforts for promotion of democracy, strengthening of democratic institutions and for the rights of the deprived people, he added.
AWAMI TEHREEK’S REACTION: People had expected a comprehensive package for the rehabilitation of the large number of flood affected people of Sindh, but Zardari did not say a single word regarding them in his speech, said Awami Tehreek chief Ayaz Latif Palijo.
Palijo said the people of the province brought Zardari and his party into the government, but his government has betrayed the people.
