Addressing an important meeting of all the main trade bodies of Sialkot held at SCCI, President Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) Naeem Anwar Qureshi strongly condemned reintroduction of prolonged load shedding. He said unscheduled load shedding for extended hours is not merely disturbing the routine of the people but is also adversely affecting production of the industry.
He revealed that exporters are unable to honour their commitments despite the fact that they are under an obligation to deliver consignments to their foreign buyers as per agreed terms. On this occasion, Javaid Ghuman (Superintending Engineer) Gepco Sialkot told the meeting that that the load shedding was due to non-payment of fuel charges to IPPs. He, however, assured the Sialkot business community that the situation will improve in a day or two due to payment of fuel charges to IPPs, which will bring additional 3500 Megawatt electricity to the National Grid.
