Week-long cultural activities marking the 135th birth anniversary of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammed Ali Jinnah concluded here on Monday at the Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA). The events started with students from the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad attending the Children’s Cultural Show that included a singing competition, speeches, tableaus and a puppet show. The theme of the children’s show was ‘Quaid Ki Kahani’ and focused on creating awareness among the youth about the history of the Pakistan Movement and understand the life of Quaid.
A five-day exhibition of rare historical photographs of Quaid was arranged by the National Archives of Pakistan in which around 600 rare photographs and historical documents were put on display. The collection provided a rare glimpse into the events and archival records related to the Pakistan Movement.
Large portraits of the Quaid’s family were a major attraction while other pictures of Jinnah showing him attending meetings and addressing public gatherings during the freedom movement were also displayed. Colourful brochures and pamphlets on Quaid and other national leaders were also distributed among the visitors.
The ministry of National Heritage had also organised day-long activities in collaboration with PNCA to celebrate the day with enthusiasm.
A traditional float representing the cultures of all provinces and federating units traveled through the areas of the city. Folk artists and musicians, attired in regional costumes, performed on the float and attracted the public through their thrilling performances.
