Islamabad Transport Authority Secretary Khawaja Maqbool Mustafa conducted a surprise traffic check on various public service vehicles’ routes including route numbers 105, 121, 124 and 127 and fined 42 vehicles for non-completion of routes and traffic violations.
According to details, the secretary also impounded five vehicles and imposed heavy fines on the violators amounting to Rs 17,500 for route violations and for not getting their route permits renewed.
Mustafa said the drive had been launched after commuters complained about the non-completion of designated routes and over charging. He directed the transporters to complete the routes and get their route permits renewed on time, saying stern action would be taken against the violators.
