The Punjab inspector general police (IGP) on Saturday advised the regional police officers (RPOs) to improve the image of police among masses by providing maximum relief to complainants at the police station level.
Punjab IGP Javed Iqbal was speaking at the RPO conference at the Police Headquarters, which was held under his chairmanship. The conference was held to review the crime data, assessment of the police officers’ performance and setting up the future strategy for improving law and order situation in the province.
The IGP urged the RPOs to focus on controlling the crimes and taking all preventive measures in this regard to ensure the security of the people and restoration of people’s confidence in the police. No negligence and inefficiency would be tolerated in the restoration of law and order, he added.
The RPOs briefed the IGP on the various crimes, including kidnapping for ransom, robbery, dacoity and murder, in their respective regions. They also briefed him about the progress in arrest, prosecution and conviction of the proclaimed offenders. Several suggestions to strengthen the police structure were also discussed during the conference.
