The uncovered live electric wires dangling from electric poles, in streets and roads, in residential and commercial areas particularly congested localities of the town, pose a serious threat to human lives, but the authorities concerned seem unmoved.
A survey conducted by APP revealed that in most of the residential and commercial areas generally congested areas including Tench Bhatta, Peoples Colony, Bakra Mandi, Dhoke Saydian, Masrial road, Lalkurti, Amarpura, Raja Bazaar, residential areas of Committee Chowk, Buni, Akalgarh, Motti Bazaar and other areas, the electric wires are not properly dangled. These dangling and uncovered power wires pose serious threats to the residents especially the kids, said Malik Khalid, a resident of Peoples Colony. He said the residents of the area have submitted several applications to the concerned authorities but to no avail. Another resident pointed out that most of dangling uncovered power wires, are an accident waiting to happen. The electricity service providers are fully aware of the danger but unfortunately have turned a blind eye to the problem. The residents in Tench Bhatta said that they have been there for years and no one has ever bothered to have them covered or removed these wires. They demanded of the authorities to take effective measures and rectify this problem to save the consumers from any untoward incident.
