A woman on Friday slapped a lawyer on his refusal to withdraw the case of her opponent, when he was preparing the case record in his chamber to move the Lahore High Court after his client’s pre-arrest bail was dismissed at the Session Court.
Humaira Naeem slapped Tariq Sulaiman advocate in his chamber when he was preparing the case to be moved to the Lahore High Court to defend his client Huma Noor, allegedly involved in a cheque theft case. Humaira directed the lawyer not to plead the case of Huma Noor. Soon scuffle erupted between the two when Humaira first slapped the lawyer and was then thrashed by the lawyer. The witnesses said that they had heard exchange of angry words between them which led to a scuffle. Humaira slapped the lawyer after he used derogatory language against her. The quarrel went out of control when the lawyer started beating her and she responded in same manner. Later, lawyers from adjacent chambers assembled to resolve the issue.
Tariq Sulaiman advocate said that Humaira first slapped him and threatened of dire consequences for not withdrawing the opponent’s case. When asked if it was right to thrash a woman who had slapped her, he said that he had preferred to respond in the same manner. The lawyer also gave an application to Deputy Superintendent Police (DSP) Shakeel Khokhar to register a case against Humaira.
