PA unites to oppose unconstitutional move

As the democratic government at Centre is facing a hard time to complete its tenure amidst various threats, the Punjab Assembly on Friday unanimously passed a resolution in favour of democracy, saying all political parties will fully resist undemocratic actions and are ready to give any sacrifice for the purpose.
The resolution was presented by the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) with the consent of its ally Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q), while the treasury benches, especially the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), also endorsed it bounding the opposition to avoid delivering speeches on the issue as they wanted to avoid any controversial statement on the role of judiciary or other state pillars.
Shaukat Basra of the PPP tabled the resolution requesting the speaker to take up it out of turn. It said all the political parties in Punjab Assembly were united to save the democratic system in the country. For the supremacy of constitution and the democratic system, the political parties would not only resist against any anti-democratic act but were also ready to give any sacrifice to achieve the aim, the resolution added.
It also appreciated the leadership of all political parties who had refused to accept any unconstitutional act. No political party or the member of the provincial assembly disagreed with the resolution or opposed it and the house unanimously passed it within five minutes.
After the session, PPP parliamentary leader Zulfiqar Gondal and deputy parliamentary leader Shaukat Basra, while talking to media, said the parliament was a supreme institution and its supremacy should be accepted by the all other state institutions even in uniform or not. They said any conspiracy against democracy and constitutional rule would also not be accepted and they would take ‘any action’ if they would be forced.
