Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar has emphasised that Pakistan fully understood the imperative of peace and stability in the region and looked forward to contributing, as effectively as possible, towards this end.
She expressed her resolve on the Chinese State Councilor, Dai Bingguo, who called on her Friday, and both discussed important bilateral as well as regional issues, international security situation and matters of mutual interest.
The foreign minister conveyed her appreciation for China’s support for Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity after the NATO strikes on Pakistan’s border posts on November 26, 2011.
The Chinese State Councilor thanked the foreign minister for the warm welcome and briefed her about China’s position on various regional and global issues and assured Pakistan of the continued support and cooperation in economic, strategic, defence and other spheres.
Both the leaders expressed satisfaction over successful celebration of Pak-China Friendship year 2011. They resolved to keep strengthening future bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
