Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain has asked the people of southern Punjab to test the MQM for once only, and they will not be disappointed.
“The people of southern Punjab have been voting for various political parties for the past 64 years and none of them has resolved the problems of the oppressed people,” he said, while addressing a rally of MQM members, workers and sympathisers at the Sports Ground – the venue of MQM’s public gathering on December 23 in Multan. Hussain said the MQM does not only speak about empowering the people of the poor and middle class in the country, but it has practically demonstrated this by sending them into the corridors of power. “The MQM will free the 98 percent people from the shackles of the two percent privileged class and change the country according to the ideals of Quaid-i-Azam and Allama Iqbal.” The MQM chief said if the nation gives MQM an opportunity, its elected representatives would solve the problems being faced by poor people, students and the business community. He assured the people living in the Seraiki belt, Multan and Bahawalpur that only the MQM can give them their due rights. Hussain said the rally taken out by people living in Karachi’s affluent areas regarding the public meeting in Multan indicates that they are also with the MQM in its struggle.
