The Sabzi Mandi police on Wednesday recovered around 240kg of hashish during a special checking of a truck at a toll plaza at the city’s entrance. According to a press statement, Islamabad Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Muhammad Yousuf Malik said the police had also arrested two alleged smugglers, Bakht Jamal and Jameel, and started investigation to trace out the gang involved in drug smuggling. Talking to the media, he said: “A truck was stopped by a team of Sabzi Mandi police station under the supervision of DSP Asharf Shah and SHO Abid Ikram at the toll plaza on IJ Principal Road. “The team comprising Sub Inspector Athar Khan and Assistant Sub Inspector Afras Khan searched the truck and recovered 240ks hashish from it.” The SSP said the hashish was being smuggled to Rewat from Peshwar. Islamabad Inspector General Police Bani Amin Khan appreciated the effort and announced that cash prizes and Category-1 commendation certificates would be awarded to all the members of the police team.
