The basic salary of police throughout the country is not at par with many other departments. Even the amount of benefits and stipends allocated to the police personnel is very meagre. This is one of the main causes and reasons of corruption within the department.
The department of police is a major part of the democratic system, but unfortunately like many other democratic institutions, it also suffers at the hands of mismanagement, corrupt practices and neglect. It is important that at least for a start the police personnel should be paid reasonable salaries at par with the intensity of their jobs. This may encourage them to perform their duties vigilantly and with passion.
