The first solo painting exhibition by young Sameera Khalid was inaugurated by Senator Najma Hameed at the Rawalpindi Arts Council (RAC) on Tuesday. Addressing the inaugural ceremony, Senator Najma Hameed said Sameera Khalid was an asset to this region and her love for art would take her to the zenith of fame. She said the young generation was talented and the only need was to assist and patronise talented artists, adding the Rawalpindi Arts Council was utilising all its resources for this purpose. Najma further said encouragement of the youth would turn Pakistan into a developed country. Rawalpindi Arts Council’s contribution to promoting art and culture of the region was unique, she remarked.
Rawalpindi Arts Council Resident Director Waqar Ahmed was of the view that, being a student of this institution, Sameera Khalid would be pride of the arts council. He said cultural activities were their first priority. A large number of people from various walks of life attended the exhibition. More than 65 pieces based on collage abstract and calligraphy art were displayed on the occasion. Sameera Khalid got diploma in fine arts from Rawalpindi Arts Council. She pointed out social evils in her abstract artwork. The combination of colours has made her work glorious. The exhibition will continue till December 24.
