ISPR has given a statement that some events of the last 72 hours were being attributed to the telephonic conversation between the President and Chief of Army Staff and the meeting with Prime Minister held on December 16th, 2011.
The Prime Minister has spoken on the subject in which he stated, “during the meeting with Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Pervaiz Kayani on Friday night, he received a telephonic call from the President by chance.
When the Prime Minister informed the President that he was having a meeting with the Army Chief, the President asked him to convey his regards to General Kayani. On this, COAS showed his desire to speak to the President”.
The telephonic conversation between the President and COAS lasted approximately one minute in which he enquired about the health of the President. Hence, attributing anything more to this telephonic conversation is unfounded and unnecessary, ISPR maintained.
As regards the meeting between the COAS and Prime Minister, a comprehensive press release has already been issued by the Prime Minister House.
