Senior Baloch leader and former Balochistan chief minister Attaullah Mengal said the province would refuse to be part of Pakistan until atrocities against the Baloch people were not stopped.
He was talking to reporters after a meeting with Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz President Nawaz Sharif on Monday. During the meeting, Nawaz assured the Baloch dissident leader that the PML-N would contest the case of Balochistan across the country. However, Mengal told Nawaz that the PML-N chief had no authority over the army and could not stop the action against the people of Balochistan. Mengal said Nawaz was not in a position to make any decisions and the “youth who were forced to go to hills will now decide the future of Balochistan”. Nawaz told Mengal that he would do something for the people of Balochistan before coming to meet him again. After the meeting, Mengal told reporters that the people of Balochistan had been driven to the point of no return. “I cannot lie or sell hope falsely, nothing is in my hand. All decisions are made by the youth who are living in the hills,” he said.
Mengal said he did not think Nawaz had the power to control the army, because he would not have been sent to Saudi Arabia. “All powers are with the army of the country.”
“Today I want to declare and make it clear that Balochistan will not live with you anymore. This decision has been made by the youth of Balochistan. They are not willing to live in a country where they find a tortured body everyday,” he said. “Rehman Malik threatens us everyday and asks us to put down weapons first. I ask Malik what language does he understand, I will explain in that language,” Mengal said.
To a query on President Asif Ali Zardari, Mengal said he had nothing to say for a person whose family did not agree with him.
Nawaz told reporters that he was pleased that Mengal had been straight forward. “What Mengal is saying is right. It is a fact that ruthlessness was committed in Balochistan. I agree with him and we have come forward to resolve the problem. We will fight the case of Balochistan. My party and I will fight the case of Balochistan across the country,” he added.
He reiterated his demand for the arrest of Akbar Khan Bugti’s murderers, adding that the government must come forward to resolve the issues of Balochistan. To a question, Nawaz said his party would happily form an alliance with the Balochistan National Party (BNP) if Sardar Attaullah Mengal allowed.
How about Mr Nawaz Sharif tries to maintain law n order in his own province first……while he was offering his services to the balochis, his party workers, lead by Mr.Hanif Abbassi, wrecked havoc in Faizabad. Public trapped amidst the bizzare traffic jam, stone pelting, gas shelling created by his worker for over 10 hours.
Can the politicians be more explicit about what they are trying to convey in a round about manner?
u r tryin to take the paw out of the politicians…
how about Mr Sharif first tries to get the law and order under control in his own province. While he was offering his services to the balochis, his workers wreaked havoc at Faizabad .rawalpindi, trapping dozens of people including students, females amidst the bizarre traffic jam, stone pelting, gas shelling for over 10 hours.
Indeed its the youth which are in control of the situation.
Good thing;
this phenomena is not limited to Baluchistan only.
Only solution is to divide Balochistan into smaller provinces.
Punjab as well.
I don't mind Sindh having further administrative divisions.
تنهنجي ڀيڻ کي يهون سنڌ جو نالو کنيو اٿئي ته يڀجي ويندي Sindhuduesh is our destiny …….. no to pakistan for ever ………. Sindhis
There is certainly no issue with KP having further smaller divisions.
We already did…

Mr. Mengal, This sharif guy (loharan da munda) knows nothing what you are talking. He is mentally challenged and also has attention deficit problem.
those baloch nationalists are assholes, they have tortured people in the past and had secret jails, they keep slaves and torture people, they want a country inside a country, army must take a strong action against those, and also political leaders should work there.a balochi poor person had no rights to marry wth a woman without the permission of the baloch sardar…
By torturing, murdering and dumping the bodies of Pakistanis in Balochistan is a crime against the state and the military officers involved are committing treason. They should be tried in a court of law (and their uniform should be no defence).
soon…pakstan itself won't remain on the face of this planet…hahahah
no…hahahah…….do not forget Bangladesh.
Baluchistan has been mishandled since independence. The first Governor-General of Pakistan ordered Army action in Baluchistan. The accession of Baluchistan was obtained forcibly by him. But we do not state the facts in the history we write and prefer to maintain silence.
If these words had been uttered by Mengal in the presence of a PPP leader, heavens would have fallen down and throats of thakedars of sharafat would have gone hoarse.
one should also remember character of people like mengal. Ghous Baksh Bazenjo was the only sane figure in Baluchistan who believes in a democratic answer of Baloch struggle. When Wali Khan ditched Balochs during Hyderabad conspiracy case, he decided to have a Baloch party with support in Lhore and Karachi. during 1980s, it was mengal and his collaborators who always raised a voice against Mr Bazenjo. Bazeno linked Baloch struggle with democratic struggle in the country yet by mengal & co established Sindhi, pukhtoon, baloch front and played in the hands of establishment. Balochs r in minority and it is essential for them to follow Bazenjo vision.
PPP represents the will of the people of smaller provinces against Punjab domination and exploitation. She is the bonding force of Federation and unity of country. The establishment in league with Judiciary is bent upon breaking this bond. The result would be like Bengal, Baluchistan and Sindh…..
the real issue is domination of elite in pakistan and only solution is to have a democratic system in federation, provinces and districts where elected people should develop policies. elite is much smarter than every one so he always tries to puzzle people by spreading theories of domination just to save her skin. elite either urdu speaking, or any other nationality or religion or sect still enjoying all benefits since 1947.
The proud people of balochistan deserve to be free and their resource rich lands will be liberated from occupying punjabi terrorist army and ISI. The punjabi terrorist army will be defeated. After balochistan is freed from illegal punjabi occupation then the illegaly occupied province of sindh will also be freed from the terrorist army and ISI.
This sounds alarming, what if the Blochis youth resistance announces independent Balochastan, and all those powers who are out to harm Pakistan recognise them as govt in exile. Is our Govt. conscious of the dangers. Why doesn’t Imran Khan of TI,go to Balochastan and rally the Blochis yought ,win their heart& mind, that would be a great service the Party,to himself & the country,as he has that magmatic appeal for the youth.he should make appeal to the youth of entire Pakistan to save Pakistan as a federation, in addition to fighting corruption ,and misgovernance, which is the root cause of the mess we r in .
I was born and raised in Baluchistan.Since I am Punjabi ethnically I am therefore not accepted by Atta Ullah Mengal and like minded people.Almost half of Baluchistan's population are Pushtoons. They are integrated in the federation of Pakistan and have no problems being living with other ethnic groups like Punjabi settlers Hazaras Brohis etc.Among Balouchs majority of them are not supporting the seccessionists.Problem lies with few Sardars who want to control the natural resouces of the provience. So calle Balouch National Army is an old relic of cold war days.Conviently U.S and NATO are using these misled mercerneries to do their dirty job to destablize Pakistan.
Baluchistan needs attention of the military and civilian leadership otherwise we should be ready for an other fall of Dhaka. If misled chieftains of Baluchistan are destabilizing Pakistan, what is the duty of the federation in this case. The only way forward is to talk to them and people of Baluchistan. Use of force has not yielded any results in the last sixty years.
The atrocities committed by the Pakistani army in West Pakistan was directly responsible for the dismemberment of Pakistan in 1971. Apparently the nation has learned nothing from it, as it perpetuates similar brutal reprssion in Balochistan. Do not be surprised if you lose that province next.
Without being a skeptic one can fairly ask PML-N's intention of supporting Baluchistan's cause: what is criteria for your support, Justice or Vote?
If indeed it's justice, then stop dealing with extremist sipa-sahaba and its associate.
BE UNITED!!!
