Islam is religion of peace and tranquility and protects the rights of other religions, said Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Nazir Ahmed Sangi, speaking at a function held in connection with Christmas preparations for Christian employees of the varsity. Dr Sangi said Allah sent His prophets and messengers to guide mankind and bring about an upright society. Priest of Thomas Church, Islamabad, Nadeem Kamran, participated in the event as the chief guest. Dr Sangi said that all employees of the university were equal in all ways, adding AIOU was like a family unit. Dr Sangi issued directives to pay salaries to all the Christians (daily wagers/regular) working in the university before Christmas.
The VC further said his doors were open to all and he was always ready to solve the problems of his employees, officers and teachers. He said he appreciated dutiful and honest employees. Dr. Sangi urged the participants to play their role in building a moral society. On the occasion, Pastor Nadeem Kamran, Vicar St Thomas of Islamabad prayed for prosperity and progress of the country as well as for progress of the AIOU and its vice chancellor. Assistant Registrar (Transport), Mushtaq Masih recited some verses from Psalm No 1 and prayed for peace, solidarity and progress of the university. In her address, Dr Zeba Hameed, sanitary staff and and medical centre in- charge, highlighted some aspects of the life of Christ (AS) and cut a cake of Christmas.
