Traffic flow remained suspended in Shahdra due to protest of clerics belonging to Sunni Tehreek on Saturday. According to details, the clerics of the Sunni Tehreek protested near Shahdra Mor for the release of their fellows detained by police on court orders. According to Shahdra Town police, two clerics namely Shareef-du-Din Qaddafi and Shareef Sharqpuri were detained by City Circle police and shifted to Kot Lakhpat Jail. Lahore Sunni Tehreek president alleged that DSP Agha Nasir had arrested the clerics due to personal grudges as the clerics had an FIR registered against some people who had displayed some religiously offending banners. He claimed that fake detention orders were obtained from DCO to arrest both leaders of Sunni Tehreek. It is pertinent to mention here that Sunni Tehreek was put on watch list last year for its suspected involvements in terrorist activities. The protest caused traffic jam in the area and vehicles remained stranded in the rush for long hours, some even running out of fuel. Long rows of vehicles from Shahdra Mor to Ravi Toll plaza were witnessed in the locality.
