Punjab University (PU) Department of Mathematics organised a one-day conference on “Gravitation” in honour of Prof Dr Asghar Qadir in the Centre for Undergraduate Studies’ Al-Razi Hall on Saturday. Vice-Chancellor (VC) Dr Mujahid Kamran was the chief guest, while Dr Qadir, Dr Riaz-ud-Din, Mathematics Department Chairman Prof Dr Shahid Saeed Siddiqui, Dr Muhammad Sharif, faculty members and a large number of students were also present on the occasion.
The VC said Dr Qadir and Dr Riaz-ud-Din had contributed greatly to the field of mathematics and had trained young people to do research. He paid high tribute to Dr Shahid Saeed Siddiqui and said he had transformed the culture of mathematics at the department. In the end, the VC, Dr Qadir, Dr Siddiqui and Dr Sharif cut a cake to celebrate Dr Qadir’s 65th birthday.
