The city’s zoo was cleaned with the help of District Municipal Corporation East on Friday and its trees were washed using fire brigade vehicles.
Eight trucks of the District Municipal Corporation East participated in removing the garbage accumulated in the zoo by dispatching it to landfill sites.
On the occasion, a meeting was held, wherein it was decided to take immediate measures for bringing improvement in the sanitation conditions of the zoo by observing a cleanliness day there every Tuesday.
The help of the District Municipal Corporation East and the fire brigade will also be sought from time to time for removing garbage, washing trees, repairing roads and pavements and painting.
Director Zoo Bashir Saddozai said that the zoo is presently in an unsatisfactory condition; however, it would soon be transformed into a better recreation point due to special interest being taken in its beautification by City Administrator Muhammad Hussain Syed.
